Hello
I'm Caroline, a person-centred counsellor based in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can be themselves without fear of judgement. A space where they can say what needs to be said, explore whatever is on their mind, and feel truly heard.
Like many people, my own experiences of life's challenges showed me how valuable it can be to have someone really listen. Someone who can sit alongside you, without trying to fix or change you, while you make sense of whatever you're carrying. That experience stayed with me and ultimately led me towards counselling.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than 20 years working in education. During that time, I worked alongside children, young people, families and colleagues, and saw first-hand how much can be happening beneath the surface. It taught me the importance of relationships, feeling understood, and having a safe place to turn when life feels difficult.
Supporting children and young people is at the heart of my practice. I hold a Master's degree in Counselling from the University of Aberdeen, specialising in counselling children and young people, and have experience working with young people across a range of settings.
Whether I am working with a young child communicating through play, a teenager trying to make sense of overwhelming emotions, or an adult navigating a difficult period in life, my aim is always the same: to offer a warm, accepting space where you can be yourself.
I am also passionate about creating an inclusive counselling space for neurodivergent clients. We all experience and make sense of the world in different ways, and I believe counselling should honour and respect those differences. You don't need to fit a particular mould or communicate in a particular way. Together, we can find an approach that feels comfortable and works for you.
Alongside private practice, I have worked with a number of organisations, including The Bounds at the University of Aberdeen, Mental Health Aberdeen, Third Level Foundation, Childline and a School Counselling Service. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the many different challenges people can face and reinforced my belief in the power of being heard, accepted and understood.
Whatever has brought you here, whether you're facing a specific difficulty, navigating a life change, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, you don't have to figure it out alone. I will meet you with warmth, curiosity and respect, and together we can explore whatever feels important to you.
If you'd like to know more about how I work, or to see whether counselling with me feels like a good fit, I'd love to hear from you.
